About The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School
From Sunday, June 2 to Friday, June 7, 2019, the second edition of the The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School (#NICSSS19) took place! The Summer School took place in both The Hague and India -- in the cities of Hyderabad and Bangalore.
The Summer School’s six-day program allowed participants to gain deeper knowledge and understanding of cyber security concepts and aspects. During their time in the Summer School, participants had the opportunity to learn from some of the greatest experts in the field about the latest developments and cutting edge cyber security technologies that exist today and worked on assignments provided by notable Dutch and Indian organizations. The program also included social events during which students were given the opportunity to ask questions, to seek career advice from their educators, and to expand their professional networks.
Cyber security, among other issues, has become a major global phenomenon, which has contributed to the economic growth and inclusiveness of populations. At the same time, a growing number of cyber harassments, attacks, espionage, cyber bullying, and disinformation has threatened individuals, businesses and states. Besides being a global problem, cyber security has also become a particularly pertinent topic for India’s increasingly growing digital society, for which cyber security is becoming more and more relevant now and in the future. In addition to educating Indian students, The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School also facilitates the increased cooperation between The Netherlands, and specifically the Municipality of The Hague, and the Indian states of Telangana and Karnataka
The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School hosted Master’s students and PhD-candidates/Young Professionals or bachelor students with policy or law-related background. The Summer School in Hyderabad and Bangalore was open to students from India, while in The Hague, the Summer School was open to Indian residents living in India or The Netherlands. In addition, participants from other countries were given the chance to participate in the Summer School. These participants were either already residing and studying in the Netherlands or are full-time students in India.
